Anti-inflammatory Golden Milk..

Golden milk is a great addition to your daily routine. Curcumin, the active ingredient in Turmeric has incredible anti-inflammatory polyphenol and antioxidant benefits which can help to aid sleep latency and quality, reduce pain, fights off degenerative diseases, may reduce heart disease and cancer risks.

Turmeric has been used for its medicinal properties for 1000’s of years. When turmeric is combined with black pepper it has been shown to increase bioavailability by 2000%. I’ve been making a batch of golden milk once a week to have before bedtime. It can be served hot or cold and has a nice creamy flavour. In summer it’s beautiful over ice. This recipe makes 2 servings.

Ingredients

  • 400ml coconut milk or nut milk of choice

  • 100ml water

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp ginger powder

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 2 tsp turmeric

  • 1 star anise star

Method:

  1. In a small pot add coconut milk, water, the cinnamon stick, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, black pepper, turmeric and star anise.

  2. Using a wooden spoon stir on medium heat for 5-10minutes until golden milk is warm and has froth at the top.

  3. Take off heat and serve.

  4. Can be consumed cold or hot. (keep in the fridge and serve for up to 5 days).

  5. Enjoy!
